Sideboard

In French, this sideboard is called a "meuble d'appui" (support furniture). Its name comes from the fact that the top is positioned at the elbow height of a standing person (approximately 1 metre).
It is often placed against a wall between two doors or between two windows, hence its other name of "meuble d'entre-deux" (in-between furniture).
Historically, it was no higher than the panelling decorating the bottom of a wall in old flats.
This piece is adorned with a pretty inlay depicting a bouquet of flowers on the door, brass rods and a beautiful ochre marble.
