This gorgeous clock style is characteristic of the late 19th century with its small finely chiselled bronze feet, its fine marble inlays, the delightful statuette on top and the lion heads on the sides.
Despite its venerable age, it works perfectly and you will have the pleasure of turning up its mechanism and hearing its delicate ringing punctuating the hours.
Late 19th century
Style: Napoleon III
Nephew of Napoleon I, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President of the Second Republic in 1848 before becoming Emperor Napoleon III in 1852 following a coup d'etat.
Napoleon III style is one of the most interesting even if nothing is really novel with elements borrowed from preceding styles. Based on the taste of the period, Japanese, Chinese and Oriental art brings a richness, abundance and eclecticism specific to this period.
