The 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels is generally considered the event that launched the Art Deco style. The public discovered elegant, simple and pure lines in architecture, furniture and the decorative arts. Modernity was on the march.
This sublime Limoges porcelain coffee service from 1925 illustrates the point. Its original shapes have lost none of their elegance and modernity after a century.
