La Veuve Perrin
was a prominent figure in Marseille’s faience craftsmanship during the 18th century. A strong-willed and talented entrepreneur, she successfully led her workshop until the age of 75, ensuring its continuity until 1803. Her expertise and dynamism left a lasting mark on Marseille’s artistic heritage, and her works, highly valued by experts and collectors, remain a treasured testament to this artisanal legacy.
The Samson manufacture,
active from the mid-19th to the 20th century, was managed by five generations of the Samson family. Specializing in ceramic arts, it excelled in reproducing and restoring pieces in porcelain, faience, terracotta, and bronze. Renowned for the variety and excellence of its imitations, it gained worldwide recognition, earning its artisans the title of “geniuses of imitation.”
