Beautiful pair of Louis XVI‑style bronze sconces, dating from around 1870.
They’ve been electrified, of course, but they still keep all the charm of their original candle design — the ribbon at the top, the finely chiselled arms, the delicate details that give them such a quiet, classical elegance. The proportions are balanced, the bronze has that lovely patina that only time can give. They bring a warm, timeless presence to any room.

There’s something very discreet about them, and that’s exactly what makes them so appealing. The soft, indirect light they create adds a gentle touch of atmosphere.

More Information

Style: Louis XVI

Louis XVI, who reigned from 1774 to 1789, is remembered as the last absolute monarch. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the monarchy by divine right and Louis XVI was guillotined on January 21st 1793.

The Louis XVI style is classical, inspired by Antiquity, the shapes are geometric, the legs of the furniture are straight and light, often fluted. However, under the influence of Marie-Antoinette, the ornaments are enriched with musical and rural attributes, ribbon bows giving a delicate touch to the furniture.
