Pair of rectangular silver‑plated vegetable tureens in the George V style.
Their clean, geometric lines combined with a handle showing the last gentle classical volutes place their production between 1905 and 1925. The central handle — designed to detach with a simple quarter‑turn — allowed the lid to be flipped and used as a second serving dish, a practical detail typical of the period.
This pair was made by Brooks & Son in Edinburgh, a renowned silversmith and jewellery house officially registered under this name in 1891, following the acquisition of Marshall & Sons. The firm continued its activity until 1941, when William Brook passed away.
The mention “Hard Soldered” indicates a strong solder assembly, guaranteeing solidity and durability — a mark of quality in traditional British silverplate.
An elegant and practical addition to your table or décor, combining refined craftsmanship with the quiet charm of early 20th‑century British design.
