A late‑19th‑century brass oil lamp, originally crafted by the German manufacturer Friedrich Hoffmann in Sebnitz, Saxony — the name “Saxonia” still appears on the burner’s adjustment knob.
The lamp has since been electrified, making it both practical and full of character.
It is topped with a lovely pleated lampshade adorned with small fabric roses, adding a soft, romantic touch to its antique charm.

A few words about oil lamps

Oil lamps have a long history, reaching their peak in the 19th century when they became essential household lighting. They evolved from simple glass vessels to finely crafted brass and bronze models with increasingly efficient burners. By the late 1800s, European manufacturers were producing beautifully designed lamps that combined function and ornament. Their charm endures today, carrying the warm glow and craftsmanship of another era.
