Ravishing Louis XVI–style trumeau mirror, revisited in the taste of the late 19th century or the very early 20th century.
The fronton is crowned with a sculpted ribbon bow, framed by delicate, symmetrical vegetal garlands that surround the medallion and fall gracefully along the sides. The inclusion of a polychrome printed medallion, typical of circa 1900, reflects the Belle Époque taste, when the French bourgeoisie loved furnishing their homes in the spirit of the 18th century.
The medallion itself confirms this date: the hairstyle and the light, romantic clothing perfectly evoke the elegant Belle Époque woman. This type of decorative imagery was everywhere in the early 1900s.
The trumeau is made entirely of wood, decorated with gilded stucco mouldings and ornaments. Its proportions are ideal — decorative enough to catch the eye, yet of a reasonable size, making it easy to place above a chest of drawers, a console or even a bench in an entrance hall. A very elegant piece that will instantly bring a refined French touch to your interior.

Louis XVI, who reigned from 1774 to 1789, is remembered as the last absolute monarch. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the monarchy by divine right and Louis XVI was guillotined on January 21st 1793.
The Louis XVI style is classical, inspired by Antiquity, the shapes are geometric, the legs of the furniture are straight and light, often fluted. However, under the influence of Marie-Antoinette, the ornaments are enriched with musical and rural attributes, ribbon bows giving a delicate touch to the furniture.
