This very pretty Louis XVI-style bench was a piano bench, but if you don't have a piano, it will make a lovely end of a bed or find its place in an entrance hall. Dating from the very end of the 19th century, the caning has been expertly redone to perfection.

Louis XVI, who reigned from 1774 to 1789, is remembered as the last absolute monarch. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the monarchy by divine right and Louis XVI was guillotined on January 21st 1793.
The Louis XVI style is classical, inspired by Antiquity, the shapes are geometric, the legs of the furniture are straight and light, often fluted. However, under the influence of Marie-Antoinette, the ornaments are enriched with musical and rural attributes, ribbon bows giving a delicate touch to the furniture.
