OUT OF STOCK
This very elegant sellette has two tops. The top is decorated with an inlaid floral motif, while the bottom is beautifully caned. I'll leave you to admire the bronzes in the close-ups. It dates from the end of the 19th century, but this lovely piece will look great in a contemporary interior.
Late 19th century
Style: Napoleon III
Nephew of Napoleon I, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President of the Second Republic in 1848 before becoming Emperor Napoleon III in 1852 following a coup d'etat.
Napoleon III style is one of the most interesting even if nothing is really novel with elements borrowed from preceding styles. Based on the taste of the period, Japanese, Chinese and Oriental art brings a richness, abundance and eclecticism specific to this period.
