I occasionally allow myself a small infidelity to French antique furniture when I come across a piece as lovely as this showcase. Made of mahogany in the Edwardian style, it dates from circa 1900. Decorative glazing bars enrich the door, while the front is enhanced with fine marquetry. The interior is lined with a light fabric that can be replaced to suit your own décor. Its proportions are elegant, its lines understated, and it offers four levels of storage. The front lock is fitted with a tiny, charming key — a delightful detail that adds to its appeal. Ideal for displaying fine porcelain, silverware, collections, or even used as a small library. And of course, whether you choose to keep it as a showcase or give it a new purpose is entirely up to you.

More Information

Style:

Edwardian furniture (1901–1910) marks an optimistic transition toward modernity, leaving behind the heaviness and decorative excess of the Victorian era. It embraces lighter, more graceful lines inspired by classical Georgian and Queen Anne forms, while also integrating touches of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts. Materials such as mahogany, walnut and satinwood are favoured, alongside the widespread use of bamboo and rattan in response to the era’s taste for verandas and country houses. Fine inlays, floral motifs and naturalistic painted details bring refinement without weight. Overall, the style reflects a society seeking brighter, more intimate and comfortable interiors.
