Let me tell you a little about the surprising origin of the word “bergère" (shepherdess)
A bergère is a large, comfortable armchair with a loose cushion, wider and deeper than a standard chair, with a lower seat and fully upholstered sides between the arms and the seat.
The name is thought to come from the pastoral tapestries depicting shepherds and countryside scenes that were very popular in the early 18th century — and that often covered this type of chair.
A bergère à oreilles refers to a model with small wings added to the top of the backrest, designed to support the head or offer a sense of privacy.
The pair I’m sharing with you is Louis XV in style and dates from around 1860. It is made of walnut.
They have been reupholstered in a beautiful classic brocade fabric, and their generous size combined with feather cushions offers real comfort without sacrificing elegance.
A timeless pair that brings together history, charm, and everyday comfort — easy to love and even easier to live with.

More Information
Style: Louis XV
Louis XV, known as the "Beloved" reigned over the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1774, he was the only king of France to be born and die at the Palace of Versailles.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its elegance and lightness. It is recognizable by the grace of the curved legs of the furniture with "pied de biche"(deer foot).
The wood is natural, gilded or painted. The "rococo" style ornamentation is inspired by nature and exoticism.
