Stunning Napoleon III oval table. Its gorgeous foot in "lion's claws" is very ornate and has brass castors. The edge of the top is finely carved. It is a dining room table but it will look great in an entrance hall.
Style: Napoleon III
Nephew of Napoleon I, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President of the Second Republic in 1848 before becoming Emperor Napoleon III in 1852 following a coup d'etat.
Napoleon III style is one of the most interesting even if nothing is really novel with elements borrowed from preceding styles. Based on the taste of the period, Japanese, Chinese and Oriental art brings a richness, abundance and eclecticism specific to this period.
