This delightful little Louis XV-style commode is known in French as a "rognon" (kidney) commode due to its shape.
This is a very attractive piece of furniture that can be placed against a wall as a chest of drawers or between two seats as an accent table, as its curved back is as attractive as its front.
Its marble top is surrounded by a brass molding topped by a brass openwork gallery.
It opens with two drawers fitted with Louis XVI-style bronze escutcheons and handles. The uprights are adorned with bronze falls and it stands on four curved legs, the front ones adorned with bronze sabots.

More Information

Style: Louis XV

Louis XV, known as the "Beloved" reigned over the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1774, he was the only king of France to be born and die at the Palace of Versailles.

The Louis XV style is characterized by its elegance and lightness. It is recognizable by the grace of the curved legs of the furniture with "pied de biche"(deer foot).

The wood is natural, gilded or painted. The "rococo" style ornamentation is inspired by nature and exoticism.
