This elegant pedestal table, dating from circa 1860, is a fine example of Napoleon III style with a unique twist. Its tripod base brings balance and charm, while the six-sided marble top — framed by a delicate gilt-brass gallery — lends it a rare and striking silhouette.
The legs are adorned with lovely brass details characteristic of the period’s decorative flair. Whether showcasing a vase of flowers, a plant, a lamp, or a sculpture, it elevates whatever rests upon it — a true accent piece with character.

Nephew of Napoleon I, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President of the Second Republic in 1848 before becoming Emperor Napoleon III in 1852 following a coup d'etat.
Napoleon III style is one of the most interesting even if nothing is really novel with elements borrowed from preceding styles. Based on the taste of the period, Japanese, Chinese and Oriental art brings a richness, abundance and eclecticism specific to this period.
