I’m delighted to present this ravishing Louis XV–style table rognon, dating from the late 19th century. I’ve always loved the gentle, asymmetrical silhouette of these pieces—the name rognon, meaning “kidney”, comes from this graceful, curved outline that gives them such charm.
The table is finely veneered in rosewood and kingwood marquetry, with bronze sabots on the feet and simple bronze keyhole plates, all in remarkably good condition for its age. It offers three drawers, with the two side drawers subtly curved, giving the piece that soft, elegant movement I’m so fond of.
I find it especially appealing because it’s so easy to place. It will make a charming small writing desk or a lovely dressing table—one of those pieces that instantly brings refinement to a room.

More Information
Style: Louis XV
Louis XV, known as the "Beloved" reigned over the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1774, he was the only king of France to be born and die at the Palace of Versailles.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its elegance and lightness. It is recognizable by the grace of the curved legs of the furniture with "pied de biche"(deer foot).
The wood is natural, gilded or painted. The "rococo" style ornamentation is inspired by nature and exoticism.
