This exquisite bonheur du jour, in the Louis XV style and dating from 1860 environ, belongs to the Napoléon III period. Its structure is decorated on all sides with fine veneers of precious woods, featuring delicate marquetry in exotic woods depicting romantic floral motifs. It opens with a large drawer, and the top unfolds to reveal a writing surface lined with a soft anise‑green leather.
The upper tier rests on two small drawers and is framed by bronze columns supporting a shelf crowned with a shaped pediment enriched with a gilt‑bronze ribbon‑tied medallion. The whole piece stands on four cabriole legs adorned with finely chiselled gilt‑bronze mounts, extending into leafy sabots.
An elegant and characterful piece, ideal as a small writing desk or as a decorative accent in any refined interior. It has a truly beautiful decorative presence.

Louis XV, known as the "Beloved" reigned over the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1774, he was the only king of France to be born and die at the Palace of Versailles.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its elegance and lightness. It is recognizable by the grace of the curved legs of the furniture with "pied de biche"(deer foot).
The wood is natural, gilded or painted. The "rococo" style ornamentation is inspired by nature and exoticism.
